MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) - If you build it, they will reward you. At least that's how it went for Three Rivers Corp., which has
been recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors for Dow Diamond, the Midland baseball stadium that is home to the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League. The Arlington, Va.-based industry group presented Three Rivers with its National Excellence in Construction Award for the 5,400-seat ballpark.
The Midland-based company also won the award in 1997 for its Midland County Juvenile Care Center. Dow Diamond, owned by the Michigan Baseball Foundation, cost $26 million to build and was completed in April 2007, a year after ground was broken. The Saginaw News says architects originally estimated construction would take 24 months.
