LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Governor Jennifer Granholm has announced 20 new business projects for the state. Granholm said Tuesday the relocations or expansions are worth a total of $658 million in new investment. They include several projects related to the defense industry, which the governor says will help Michigan diversify its economy.
One project involves a retail development that will be anchored by a new Cabela's outdoor store in Wyoming. The Holland area drew two of the projects and saw a third move from Holland to Zeeland to expand. Southeast Michigan also got a number of new projects.
The Democratic governor and lawmakers this year expanded tax incentives for businesses adding jobs in Michigan. Granholm says those are helping attract more investment.
