Some areas of the state have as many as ten new inches of snow on the ground. An area from Flint northward got the highest amount of snowfall, along with Berrien County in the Southwest corner of the state.
The heavy snow was pushed through Michigan with a strong low pressure system, which began moving through Kentucky and Indiana over the weekend. Tens of thousands of homes and businesses were blacked out across the state because of the storm..
Consumers Energy estimated there were about 30,000 outages statewide, with most of them in the Flint-Saginaw area. A company spokesman said the reason was the heavy snow that hung on tree limbs that fell onto power lines.
