A corrections officer at the Saginaw Correctional Facility in Freeland has been arrested on drug charges. State Police arrested 45-year-old John Singer of Burton Tuesday in the parking lot of Fashion Square Mall.  State Corrections spokesman John Cordell says officials started an investigation when they had reason to believe Singer was planning to bring marijuana into the prison. But Cordell says Singer had not yet brought any drugs in when he was arrested.

Singer had worked at the Freeland prison for two years and for the state Department of Corrections since 1989.
