Saginaw school board trustees have approved the resignation of outgoing Superintendent Gerald Dawkins, effective August 8th. Dawkins is leaving Saginaw after seven years to run the Caddo Parish Schools near Shreveport, Louisiana.
40-year veteran Saginaw school district employee Thomas Barris will take over leading the district, after he had originally planned to retire this spring. Barris is expected to be head of the Saginaw schools through this coming school year. He'll also continue his previous job which involved overseeing the district's labor negotiations.
