One man is in custody following the armed robbery of the Chemical Bank at 314 East Midland in Bay City.  Police say Detective John May observed a man entering the bank before leaving a short time later with what appeared to be a hand gun. May conveyed what he saw to responding officers before giving chase on foot. Police say the suspect eventually discarded the handgun and an undisclosed amount of money before being caught near the bank. The case remains under investigation. 

The suspect was taken to the Bay County Jail following the hold up which occurred around 2:15 Tuesday afternoon. He was to be arraigned in Bay County District Court.
